Your website’s mobile friendliness is becoming more significant. Web design standards have changed a lot over the last 10 years. It’s not just a “bonus” to have a mobile friendly website anymore. It was recently announced that as of April 21st 2015, Google will factor your website’s mobile friendliness into their ranking algorithm.
For the past year, I have been building websites that include mobile friendly design. A coding method that has become quite popular, called “Responsive Web Design”, is now THE way to build websites. Responsive designs are fluid and automatically scale and/or adjust based on the device you are using. I attended a seminar on this topic last summer and it is a fantastic method for web development. Many website platforms also offer mobile friendly templates or themes.
If you have been dragging your feet, now is the time to give me a call and we can talk about improving your website, because I would like to help.
You can wait to advance your website, but know that your rankings may decrease, according to Google. We do not know how significantly the new algorithm will impact your rankings. However, the rankings on mobile devices may be independent of rankings on desktops. And fortunately when you do decide to make a change, your website will start to benefit from the new mobile-friendly algorithm as soon as Google re-indexes your website.
If you’d like to explore and/or execute a website redesign now, I’d be excited to help! If your website is 2 to 3 years old, it might be time to consider a clean up anyway. If older, it may be time for a redesign.
Let’s talk before you make any decisions. This is a good opportunity to spice up your website and your web presence to help advance your business.
